Many CGC-certified Pop Culture Collectibles Featured in Ongoing Goldin Sale

A Batman #1 certified by CGC has already eclipsed $100,000 in an ongoing Goldin sale, leading the hundreds of CGC-certified comics, cards, video games and other collectibles in Goldin’s July Pop Culture Elite Auction, which is set to end on August 2, 2025.

The Batman #1 is graded CGC 3.5 (lot 1). Published in 1940 by DC Comics following the character’s Golden Age debut in Detective Comics a year earlier, Batman #1 is the first appearance of the Joker and Catwoman. The CGC Census lists 317 examples of this book, but fewer than half are in Universal grade, with only 56 of those graded higher.

Meanwhile, a Black Lotus, Magic: The Gathering (1993) Limited Edition Alpha graded CGC 9 (lot 4) is leading the CGC-certified cards in the sale. Black Lotus is one of the rarest and most valuable Magic: The Gathering cards in the world. Black Lotus was in the first three MTG sets — Alpha, Beta and Unlimited — with the Alpha Limited Edition Black Lotus being the rarest of the three. There are only 51 examples of the Limited Edition Alpha Black Lotus in the CGC Cards Population Report, with only 9 graded higher.
