CGC-certified Pokémon and Sports Cards Impress in April Fanatics Collect Auctions
Posted on 06/05/2025
A rare Japanese Pokémon promo graded by CGC® realized more than $80,000 in a recent Fanatics Collect sale, becoming the seventh highest-selling CGC-certified Pokémon card on the auction platform. It is just one of the thousands of CGC-certified TCGs, sports cards and non-sports cards that were sold through Fanatics Collect marketplace in April 2025.
A Kangaskhan, Pokémon (1998) Japanese Garura Parent/Child Tournament Prize Promo graded CGC Gem Mint 10 realized $84,000 in Fanatics Collect’s April Premium Auction, which ended on April 24. This card is one of only 13 examples in the CGC Cards Population Report. Additionally, it is the only example graded CGC Gem Mint 10, with only one graded higher. Kangaskhan was given out as a prize to the winners of the Garura Parent/Child Tournament, which was a tag-team tournament offered to parents and their children during the Lizardon Mega Battle in Japan in May 1998.
Meanwhile, hundreds of CGC-certified sports cards were sold through Fanatics Collect in April as well, with the top highlight being a coveted one-of-one parallel of a perennial NBA All-Star. A 2024-25 Panini Prizm #85 Giannis Antetokounmpo - Choice Nebula certified CGC Authentic realized $13,800 on April 27. Nicknamed the Greek Freak for his rare combination of size, speed, strength and agility on the court, Antetokounmpo is a 9-time All-Star, two-time NBA MVP and a 2021 NBA champion. After an early postseason exit in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, Antetokounmpo's future with the Milwaukee Bucks could be in doubt. However, there is never any doubt when it comes to adding an extremely rare one-of-one Prizm parallel of a potential first ballot Hall of Famer to your collection.
Another sports highlight from April's Fanatics Collect sales was a rare patch auto card of The Great One: Wayne Gretzky. A 2021-22 Upper Deck The Cup Limited Logos Jumbo Patch Autograph #LL-WG Wayne Gretzky certified CGC Authentic realized $12,900 on April 24. Serial-numbered to only 10 ever made and featuring a jumbo patch and signature, you couldn't ask for much more out of a hockey card of this NHL legend. Nicknamed The Great One for good reason, Gretzky is widely considered the greatest hockey player in NHL history. The leading career point scorer and assist leader in league history, the four-time Stanley Cup winner held 61 NHL records at the time of his retirement in 1999.

Notable Upcoming Fanatics Collect Sales
Fanatics Collect continues to offer CGC-certified cards in their weekly, fixed and premium auction formats. One of the TCG highlights available in May is a Rayquaza VMAX, Pokémon (2021) Evolving Skies Secret Rare graded CGC Pristine 10. While the secret rare Eeveelutions are well-known hits in the hard-to-find Evolving Skies set, Rayquaza is also a hidden gem that continues to draw collectors to the Sword & Shield era. Secret rare cards (especially from Evolving Skies) have an extremely low pull rate — around 1 in 332 packs, or 0.30% for secret rare VMAX cards, like this Rayquaza — so this card’s rarity cannot be understated.
Other TCG and non-sports cards in the upcoming May auctions include:
- a Charizard EX, Pokémon (2016) Japanese Expansion 20th Anniversary 1st Edition graded CGC Pristine 10
